i always had a curiosity and admiration for Fujifilm mirror less Digital cameras and have finally decided to pull the trigger and get one to feed my hunger to see how this little wonder works and feels , and i guess i summed up my thoughts about this miracle of modern technology with this sentence . but bare with me as i tell the story of how i fell in love with this camera .
when i wanted to get my first Fuji the cinematographer in me was looking at the one that could shot 4K RAW video even though i know its not real 4K and just a log ( let's not get into this right now ) but since iv never used a Fuji camera before i didn't want to spend $2K on something that iv never tested before so i went for the next best thing the X-T20. this camera although half the price had an impressive spec list mostly because it can shot 4K ish video and has the same sensor as the XT2 , so you cant beat that on paper its utilizing the 24.3MP APS-C Xtrans CMOS sensor and X-processor pro image processor ( that was straight out of their website btw ) minus the log file which im sure is fascinating information but thats not why im writing this . so the bundle i went for was the one with the 18-55mm lens that i only used for a couple of weeks till got the life saving adapter in the mail from C7 Adapters . once i slapped on my set of Richard gale lenses on this camera the romance between me and what i was seeing through the digital view finder began , it was truly love at first glance and more specifically the Flare factory 58mm . the small form factor and the quality of the optics absorbing the photons and merging with the glorious Fuji sensor was a mind blowing experience , the saturation of colors could only be matched by the works of Caravaggio especially in low light situations the contrast of light and shade and the punch of color is smooth as a painting . it was obvious to me that this is my travel kit and my on set camera and lens combination that i will use while location scouting and BTS . with the amazing color renditions and low light capabilities i had the perfect tool to build color palliates for my projects . in short this combination made me fall in love with cinematography all over again and this says a lot for such a small camera that works so well in so many situations and for the astonishing price of $800 it has an amazing sensor and the small form factor and the amazing nobs of the camera makes it the fastest camera iv ever used to change exposure and shutter speed on the fly while walking through light and shade and if you want to get that speeding exotic car that is zipping passed you . now i want to get my hands on the XT2 and test out that log curve im really excited to see those results , till then keep filming my friends .
